Model Specification and Material Selection
Fish bolts come in popular models like Φ14×70, Φ16×75, Φ18×90, Φ20×90, Φ22×135, and Φ24×135, formed through hot pressing or cold heading using friction presses. Material choices include ordinary carbon steel (Q235) and high-strength steel (45# steel), alongside specialized variants such as insulated fish bolts. Performance grades range from 4.6 to 12.9, with grades 8.8 and above representing high-strength bolts, crafted from low-carbon alloy steel or medium-carbon steel and undergoing meticulous heat treatment.
Installation Precautions
During installation of fish bolts, adhere to the following precautions: Lubricate the contact areas between fish plate, rail, and bolts with oil. If alignment issues arise during insertion, adjust by tapping the fish plate rather than forcing the bolts. Begin tightening from the middle, then the sides (in the case of a four-hole fish plate), using a specified length wrench like a 55 cm screw wrench. Avoid simultaneous tightening by multiple persons to prevent over-tightening. Install bolt caps crosswise inside and outside the line to avert complete cut-off during derailment.
