According to the structure and purpose, wheel nuts can be divided into the following categories:
(1) Classification by shape
Taper Seat Nuts
The most common type, the bottom of the nut is a 60° cone angle, matching the wheel hub hole to ensure centering and tightening.
Applicable to most passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
Ball Seat Nuts
The bottom is a spherical contact surface, suitable for some European models
Flat Seat Nuts
The bottom is flat, usually used with gaskets, suitable for some trucks or modified vehicles.
(2) Classification by function
Standard nuts: ordinary tightening function, need to be installed with a torque wrench.
Locking Wheel Nuts
Use special patterns or special shapes to prevent wheel theft.
Requires a special key to remove (such as McGard, Gorilla brands).
Floating Nuts
Allow slight displacement to reduce bolt stress, suitable for off-road vehicles or heavy-duty vehicles.
2. Key parameters of wheel nuts
Passenger cars: Common M12×1.25, M14×1.5 (such as Japanese and German cars).
Commercial vehicles/trucks: M20×1.5, M22×1.5 (such as heavy trucks).
